Cemeteries of Westchester In-Person
Patrick Raftery, Associate Director and Librarian of the Westchester County Historical Society and author of The Cemeteries of Westchester County, will discuss the different kinds of cemeteries and burial places that have existed in Westchester from the late 1600s to the present. He will also explain the different kinds of tombstones and monuments that can be found in these cemeteries, and how they developed from the simple, uninscribed fieldstones of the late 17th century to the granite memorials most commonly in use today.
