In addition to Mary Lou Williams, to whom we dedicated last month's program to, trombonist Melba Liston, flutist Bobbi Humphrey, fiddler Regina Carter, trumpeter Valaida Snow, pianists Una Mae Carlisle, Lil Hardin Armstrong, Hazel Scott, Lovie Austin and Shirley Scott all made major contributions to jazz over the first one hundred years. On March 26h Jazz Conversations will celebrate these and other women who have defied the odds and succeeded in the world of jazz.
