Family Book Discussion: New Kid by Jerry Craft

Family Book Discussion: New Kid by Jerry Craft Online

Join us to discuss Jerry Craft's 2020 Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award winning graphic novel New Kid - the story of Jordan Banks, a cartoon drawing seventh grader who would rather attend the art school of his dreams than the prestigious private school for academics where is one of the few kids of color in his entire school. Jordan is torn between his neighborhood of Washington Heights and the Riverdale Academy Day School. Can Jordan learn to navigate his new school culture while keeping his neighborhood friends and staying true to himself? Recommended for rising 5th graders and up and their families.

Place a hold on New Kid or download as an ebook through Hoopla to get started today!

Participants can pick up a copy of New Kid for their home library from the Greenburgh Public Library starting Tuesday, July 14, 2020 during curbside pick-up hours while supplies last. Contact Nicole Guenkel for more information (nguenkel@greenburghlibrary.org).
