Film Discussion Series with Marcus Renna Online
Join us for an September film discussion series via Zoom! Discussions will be led by Marcus Renna, and we'll take a look at three historical dramas that focus on strong female leads. These films are set in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Our third film will be:
THE QUEEN OF SPAIN (2016)

Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona) stars as the famous movie star Macarena Granada, who flees the glitz and glamour of 1950s Hollywood to return to her roots in Spain where she has signed on to star in an epic film as Queen Isabella of Spain.
Chosen to be shown in the Berlinale Special section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival
Nominated for Best Lead Actress (Penelope Cruz) and Best Cinematography at the Goya Awards
Films should be viewed in advance. The films are available on the library's Kanopy streaming service, via internet connected devices. Once a film is borrowed you'll have three days to watch it! Marcus Renna has worked at several of the public libraries in Westchester for a few years now. He is a recent graduate of SUNY Purchase who hopes to pursue a career in librarianship. Marcus serves patrons proudly and enjoys helping develop the libraries' already extensive and diverse collections. He enjoys introducing patrons to films, and discussing movies that they love. In his free time he studies languages and waches vintage films.
