Photo of Instructor, Alex LamasAccording to Chinese medicine, “Qi” is the vital force that animates the body as well as the electrical impulses that travel through the nervous system. Practicing Tai Chi is a way to enhance the circulation of Qi in the body, which can also help with balance, coordination, proper breathing and developing fine motor skills. Tai Chi can help one to better stand, walk and run. It's beneficial for strengthening the joints, as well as relieving some of the pain caused by arthritis. As a moving meditation, it helps to build concentration and develop a calm mind, thus relieving stress.

Sifu Alex Lamas has been training and teaching Kung Fu and Tai Chi for over 25 years; in 2001 he became an instructor at Kwan’s Kung Fu. As a Kung Fu and Tai Chi teacher, Sifu Lamas has brought his program to schools, campuses, Buddhist temples and senior centers across Westchester county. He has also been studying meditation for 20 years.

By choosing to participate in this program, you acknowledge and agree that you are voluntarily engaging in this activity at your own risk. You assume full responsibility for your participation and agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Greenburgh Public Library, its staff, volunteers, and affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, or damages that may arise from your participation.
