Discover the Power of Play!
Join us for an uplifting and interactive workshop that explores how play, curiosity, and connection can improve wellness, resilience, and joy in later life. Led by members of the Westchester County Geriatric Mental Health Collaborative and psychologist, Dr. Andrew Bell, this program blends science, storytelling, and hands-on activity to help participants rediscover the mind-body connection and reduce stress through play.

Dr. Andrew Bell is a clinical psychologist (Ph.D. Columbia University, 2003; M.S. Columbia University, 1994; M.A. New York University, 1989). His work in community mental health spans a variety of roles, including outpatient therapist, inpatient psychologist, child psychiatric ER director, director of two school-based crisis programs, and co-developer of the Safe Schools, Successful Students Initiative, which served 12 high-need schools in the Bronx. Since 2009, he has been Program Director for Westchester County’s Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) where he oversaw Children’s Mental Health for 10 years, and now leads DCMH’s efforts toward trauma-informed systems change. Andy has published peer-reviewed empirical research on dreams, and public health strategies to avert preventable ER visits and psychiatric hospitalizations. He received Family Ties’ Champion of Children award in 2014 and was recognized in 2015 by Fordham University’s Children and Families Institute for Research, Support, and Training.
