Josie's International School of Dance: Latin Percussion Workshop In-Person
Join us for an exhilarating Latin Percussion Workshop led by the talented artists Josie LaRiccia and Angel Paez! This engaging workshop will immerse you in the vibrant world of Latin rhythms, featuring a variety of instruments including congas, bongos, timbales, maracas, guiro, claves, and cowbells.

Angel Paez also known as “Latin Pete” born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. At age 15 he attended the Conservatory of Boys Harbor of Harlem at 103rd Street where he studied percussion under the famous Louis Bauzo and other major latin percussionists for 5 years. At age 13 Angel played with Mongo Santamaria at the Philmore East and with the Fania All-Stars at Bronx Music Palace, and also accompanied Ray Barreto and Larry Harlowe. As a young man, he joined Fred Massie’s Lower East Side’s Grand Street Settlement House’s latin steel band, Orchestra FM, which won first prize at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. Angel is well versed in all latin percussion instruments: congas, bongos, guiro, maracas, timbales, cow bell. Angel now lives in Irvington, New York and performs with Carlos Jimenez’ Mambo Ducet throughout the tri-state area
Josie LaRiccia is Artistic Director and Founder (2004) of Josie's International School of Dance. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Boston University, an Avocational Degree in Archaeology from Norwalk Community College and a Certification in Historic Preservation from SUNY Westchester Community College. She studied Ballet with Diane DuPre of NYC's Joffrey Ballet and worked as an assistant Ballet instructor. Leaning towards character dance she studied Flamenco in NYC with Mariquita Flores, Mariano & Mariana Parra and Jose Molina, and Escuela Bolera (Classical Spanish Dance) with Daniel DeCordoba, Mariano Parra & Jerane Michel. She is well versed in many styles of dance, hosting presentations of Flamenco, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Middle Eastern Belly Dance and currently performs in the Westchester and New York area. She also holds certifications in Pilates and Kindermusik and was an adjunct dance teacher at SUNY Purchase College in Rye, New York.
