Local History Presentation: Spiritualism and Mourning in Victorian America Online
The Victorian era is well-known for its intricate customs and traditions surrounding death and mourning. The behavior of the bereaved was governed by strict social rules. In addition, spiritualists and mediums offered hope to those who were grieving by claiming to be able to contact the deceased. During this presentation, we will explore the requirements that were expected of families who had recently lost a loved one and also delve into the ways in which Victorians attempted to communicate with the dead.
