Listening Circle In-Person

Greenburgh Residents, Let's Talk, Let's Listen! We invite you to be part of the Greenburgh Restorative Circle Project!

We hope you will register for a Listening Circle for members of the Greenburgh community to share with others how their racial and cultural identities affect their experience as a resident and how the Town of Greenburgh is meeting its commitment to racial equity.

The Listening Circle is sponsored and organized by Restorative Justice Westchester (RJW), Showing Up for Racial Justice Westchester (SURJ), the Westchester Racial Equity Collaborative (WREC), and the Greenburgh Human Rights Advisory Committee.

Our goals are:

  • To build relationships that transcend racial and cultural barriers
  • To foster an environment of healing and reconciliation
  • To create a more inclusive Greenburgh

With roots in Indigenous cultures around the world, Listening Circles and other Restorative Justice models provide people an opportunity to speak and listen to each other in a respectful atmosphere, with decorum, and equality, giving space and time to people who often feel they are not being heard.

Listening Circles are led by trained “circle keepers”, use a talking piece to equalize the opportunity for participation, and are grounded in common values and agreements that all participants commit to uphold. Each Listening Circle will be two hours in length and engage approximately 10 participants. To accommodate everyone interested, there will be several circles occurring simultaneously at each venue.

We invite all Greenburgh residents to participate in one of the circles being offered by Community Partners.

Light refreshments will be served. Doors open 30 minutes before the event. We will start promptly at 6 PM.
