Panel Discussion on Reparations Remedies in New York State - NAACP Greenburgh/White Plains In-Person / Online

Despite its anti-slavery rhetoric, slavery remained legal in New York until 1827. And even after that, it remained closely tied to the institution when it continued to exist in southern states. Now, with the passing of new legislation, New York is poised to create a commission tasked with studying the history of slavery and racial discrimination in New York and recommending possible measures to address the generational trauma that people of color continue to experience stemming from that history. This is just the second like it in the nation – California is the first.

Join us for this important panel discussion sponsored by the Greenburgh/White Plains Branch of the NAACP.
