Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop Series - Health for Life Program (HeLP) In-Person

Do you have chronic pain or care for someone who does? This six-week series of small group workshops will HeLP you take charge of your life!  Geared toward ages 55 and older and/or their caregivers, over the six weekly 2.5 hour in-person workshop sessions, you will learn techniques and strategies to deal with the symptoms and difficult emotions associated with chronic pain. 

Attendance at all six weekly workshops, held on Tuesdays from September 26 through October 31 is strongly encouraged, as the material covered builds upon the prior sessions.

Registration is required. Your registration below enrolls you in the full six week series. This workshop series is part of the Health for Life Program offered by the  Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services in partnership with Westchester Public Private Partnership for Aging Services, Westchester County Livable Communites and the New York State Office for the Aging.

  • Session 1 - Sep 26: Overview of self-management and chronic pain conditions, pain defined, using your mind to manage symptoms, getting good sleep, and making an action plan.
  • Session 2 - Oct 3:  Action plan feedback and refinement, problem-solving, values for pacing/time management, physical activity/exercise, and dealing with difficult emotions.
  • Session 3 - Oct 10: Using your mind to manage symptoms, healthy eating, physical activity/exercise, and action plan feedback and refinement.
  • Session 4 - Oct 17:  Depression management, communication skills, healthy eating, physical activity/exercise, and action plan feedback and refinement.
  • Session 5 - Oct  24:  Medication usage, decision-making/informed treatment decisions, values for pacing/time management, using your mind to manage symptoms, and action plan feedback and refinement.
  • Session 6 - Oct 31:  Working with your health care team, future plans, communication skills, using your mind to manage symptoms, and action plan feedback and refinement.
