Real Reads, Non-Fiction Book Club July 2023 - March 2024 In-Person
Real Reads is the library's new book club for adults. Narrative non-fiction is the focus of Real Reads. Selections will include memoirs, biographies, adventures, history, true crime, current topics, science, and more.
This is an opportunity to meet new people and enjoy stimulating, interesting, and friendly conversations.
Real Reads meets on Saturday mornings at 10:30 am in the library.
Registration is required.
Check for ebook and digital audiobook formats in Libby, cloudLibrary, and Hoopla. The cloudLibrary is available to Greenburgh Library card holders.
Upcoming selections are:
- Saturday, July 22, 2023 - Escape from Camp 14: one man's remarkable odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West, by Blaine Harden. Print copies will be available starting June 24th while supplies last.
- Saturday, August 19, 2023 - Behind the beautiful forevers: life, death, and hope in a Mumbai undercity by Katherine Boo. Print copies will be available starting July 22nd while supplies last.
- Saturday, September 23, 2023 - NEW selection, The 1619 Project A New Origin Story, Nikole Hannah-Jones. Print copies will be available starting August 19th while supplies last.
- Saturday, October 14, 2023 - Far from the tree: parents, children and the search for identity, by Andrew Solomon. Print copies will be available starting September 23rd while supplies last.
- Saturday, November 11, 2023 - The new Jim Crow: mass incarceration in the age of colorblindness, by Michelle Alexander. Print copies will be available starting October 14th while supplies last.
Real Reads is taking a break in December and January.
- Saturday, February 3, 2024 - Fast Food Nation The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, by Eric Schlosser. Print copies will be available starting January 6, 2024, while supplies last.
- Saturday, March 2, 2024 - The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, by Nicholas Carr. Print copies will be available starting February 3, 2024, while supplies last.
