Demystifying Medicare and Healthcare Coverage for Seniors

Demystifying Medicare and Healthcare Coverage for Seniors In-Person

Demystifying Medicare is perfect for anyone trying to navigate our complicated healthcare system for older adults. It’s for people who already have Medicare, as well as those soon to be 65, planning their retirement, or assisting relatives and friends with paperwork and medical decisions.

In this engaging interactive session, you will learn about the various parts of Medicare and the costs associated with medical and drug insurance provided by the government and private companies. Topics include:

  • Original Medicare
  • Medicare Advantage Plans
  • Prescription drug plans (Part D)
  • Medigaps (supplemental plans)
  • Various cost-saving programs (MSPs,Extra Help, EPIC, etc.)

Demystifying Medicare is part of the ongoing work of the Westchester Library System to provide authoritative, actionable information that supports seniors in being connected and well-informed. This workshop is being co-sponsored by Greenburgh Parks and Recreation.

A full online version of this program with audio chapters, downloadable .pdfs, and a schedule of future live events can be found at seniors.westchesterlibraries.org/demystifyingmedicare. Volunteers at two walk-in Senior Benefits Information Counseling centers (SBICs, seniors.westchesterlibraries.org/senior-benefits) can help with individual issues, or call them through their helpline at (914) 417-9102.
