The Honest Series - The Long Shadow Film Discussion with Filmmaker Frances Causey In-Person / Online
Join moderators Lena Anderson (WP/GB NAACP) and OJ Yizar (Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus, Greenburgh White Plains Chapter) for a discussion on the PBS film The Long Shadow with filmmaker Frances Causey. The Long Shadow follows former CNN Senior Producer, TED contributor, and Emmy-Award-winning Director Frances Causey as she traces her family’s legacy of white privilege, placing it in the context of the history of anti-black racism in the United States that began with slavery and continues to impact our society today.
The film has broadcasted nationally on PBS, and now the filmmakers are partnering with The Good Policy Institute for this special screening event and live Q&A!

The Good Policy Institute is a policy institute that focuses on the research, study, and assessment of policy through an equity lens. Race is the single most determinant of adverse outcomes In policy. In order to address the disparate effects across race and other intersections of identity, we need The Good Policy Institute, the only organization of its kind in Westchester County, to present The Honest Series. The Honest Series talks are designed to create collaborative thoughts on race equity conversations that parlay into policy initiatives.These policy initiatives are aimed at the mitigation of historic, systemic, and oftentimes lethal racism in Westchester. Following two successful and well-attended talks on racism in Greenburgh and race, gender and privilege in Greenburgh we will expand the offering to venues throughout Westchester County and beyond.
