Chinese Folk Dance

Chinese Folk Dance In-Person

Join Yingli Wen of the Greenburgh Evergreen Club to learn the basic movements of Chinese folk dances from a variety of ethnic groups in China. After attending this summer series, students should be able to perform at least one complete dance. All are welcome--no dance experience required. Masks are strongly recommended.

This class takes place on Tuesdays, July 11 through August 15 and September 5 through 19, 2023 (NO CLASS ON AUGUST 22 and 29). Your single registration enrolls you for the ENTIRE series.

NOTE: Not all exercises are suitable for everyone and this or any other exercise program may result in injury. PLEASE consult your DOCTOR before beginning this or any other exercise program, especially if you have any chronic or recurring condition, and/or if you are pregnant, nursing, or elderly.

Instructor, Yingli Wen photo in Chinese costumeYingli Wen, has been a Chinese folk dance instructor with the Greenburgh Evergreen Club for eight years. She taught Chinese folk dance to children of 5 to 14 years old in the New York Chinese School from 2013 to 2018.  Ms. Wen has performed Chinese dances in various cultural events including but not limited to the Westchester Asian Heritage Festivals, the Chinese Lunar New Year Celebrations in the Hudson River Museum, ArtWestcheater Lunar New Year Celebration, and various cultural events in New York City. She was a member of the Red Silk Dancers and performed with the troupe for many years. She also had roles in several Cantonese Opera productions in New York City.
