As a Greenburgh Public Library cardholder, you can borrow a Microsoft 365 license for up to 30 days. After this loan period is over, you will need to repeat the process to regain access to Microsft 365 apps.
Microsoft 365 apps include:
- Microsoft Word: A word processor for creating and editing text documents with formatting tools and collaboration features.
- Microsoft Excel: A spreadsheet tool for organizing, analyzing, and visualizing data with formulas and charts.
- Microsoft PowerPoint: A presentation app for designing slideshows with text, images, videos, and animations.
- Microsoft Forms: A simple tool for creating surveys, quizzes, and polls to collect data and feedback in real time.
- Microsoft Clipchamp: A browser-based video editor that allows users to easily create and edit professional-looking videos with built-in templates and effects.
- Microsoft Copilot: An AI-powered assistant integrated into Microsoft 365 apps that helps users write, summarize, analyze, and automate tasks using natural language.
✅ How to Use Microsoft 365 with Your Library Card
Step 1: Reserve Your Access

Choose a Start Date from the calendar below.

Click “Add to Cart & Checkout.”

Log in with your GPL card number (no spaces) and PIN (usually the last 4 digits of your phone number).

Read and accept the Terms & Conditions.

Check your email is correct, then submit your booking.
Step 2: Sign In (Wait 10 minutes after booking)

Go to office.com and click “Sign In.”

Username: Take the first part of your email (before the @), then add
@greenburghlib.onmicrosoft.com
(Example: ilovelibraries@gmail.com → ilovelibraries@greenburghlib.onmicrosoft.com) -
Password: Use the temporary password from your confirmation email. You'll be asked to create a new one.
Step 3: Use Microsoft 365
Option 1: Install Apps

After signing in at office.com, click “Install and more” → “Install Microsoft 365 apps.”

Follow the prompts to install on your device.

If asked, select “Work or School account.”

Use your
@greenburghlib.onmicrosoft.com
email and new password. -
On personal devices, choose:
✅ “No, sign in to this app only”
❌ Uncheck “Allow my organization to manage this device”
Option 2: Use Online

Stay on office.com and click “Create” to open Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. in your browser.
📌 Notes:

You can use Microsoft 365 on up to 5 devices.

You’ll lose access when your reservation ends, so save your work to a personal account or device.
Important Notes
- Once your loan period expires, your license will be revoked, and you’ll lose full access unless you have a personal subscription.
- Apps installed on your device will have limited or no functionality until you reserve a new license.
- Licenses are configured to provide access to the most essential Microsoft 365 services. Some applications and services have been restricted under a patron license.
Patron Privacy Disclaimer
The sync service only accesses the following data for the purpose of license management:
- Patron Name: Used to identify the patron and match records across systems.
- Email Address: Used for account creation, license assignment, and communication with the software vendor.
- Booking Dates: Used to determine the start and end of license usage.
- Booking Status: Ensures licenses are only assigned to active or confirmed bookings.
No additional data is collected or stored outside what is required for this service.
How Your Data is Protected
- All communication between the library’s systems and third-party platforms (e.g., Microsoft, LibCal, Glitch) is encrypted using industry-standard protocols.
- Logs generated by the sync service are not permanently stored. Logs are created only during the runtime of the sync process and are cleared automatically once the service completes or the application is restarted. This ensures that no sensitive data is retained unnecessarily.
Done early?
- If you reserve for longer than you need and you no longer require access to the app, call the Library at (914) 721-8225 to check the license back in.
