Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Community Suicide Prevention Training In-Person
**SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH**
Talking about mental health struggles and suicide can be challenging, but it's a conversation that has the power to save a life. Join us for Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper training, a practical, evidence-based approach to learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, engage with someone who is in crisis, and refer them to appropriate professional help. In this session you will learn practical skills to:
- Question someone in a compassionate and non-judgmental way to determine if they are experiencing suicidal thoughts.
- Persuade them to seek help.
- Refer them to professional resources that can provide the necessary assistance.
"Gatekeepers" can be anyone, but include family members, friends, neighbors, work colleagues, teachers, faith leaders, healthcare workers, first responders, social service providers and many others who are positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. Register now to make a positive difference in the life of someone you know--appropriate for ages 16 years and older.
This training is brought to the community by Greater Mental Health of New York (formerly the Mental Health Associations of Westchester and Rockland).
If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org.
